Solo Queue Tier List for Patch 8.16. Last updated on 30 December 2018 at 12:00am by Tierlist. The most straight-forward league of legends LoL Tier List for Solo Queue in League of Legends 5v5. We provide metrics, statistics, builds, skill orders and runes for the champions in LoL.
How have recent champion and game-play changes affected the current solo queue meta? Missed the patch notes? Check them out here League of Legends solo queue has been and always will be a different animal from competitive play. The largest difference between these two levels of play is the severe lack of communication in a solo queue game. Because of this, certain strategies in the game are severely hindered or rendered completely unplayable in solo queue. These strategies are often centered around specific champions or skill sets which result in two very different game play metas.
ALL OF THE FOLLOWING TIER LIST CHANGES ARE CENTERED AROUND THE RANKED SOLO QUEUE LADDER MID / TOP LANE Syndra (Up Tier 1 MID) – The early game nerfs on Syndra’s Q base damage in S5 affected her ability to harass her laning opponent effectively. Taking away this strength gave her fewer opportunities to 100-0 her opposition in the early stages of the game, which gave her even fewer chances to snowball. Though she still maintained a niche role in making single target picks around the map, it wasn’t enough to give her a strong presence in the meta. With a few buffs to her AP ratios and W utility, Syndra has now become a huge snowball threat once again.

Her single target pick niche has also turned into a full blown initiation tool that can stun a large area. Anivia (Up Tier 1 MID) – The big blue bird has been fluctuating between Tier 1 and Tier 2 in my book for quite some time now, but her strength throughout all stages of the game in solo queue remains intact for those who overcome her learning curve. Despite recent nerfs to her base damage and mana consumption, her ability to burst squishies down, peel, kite, and manipulate enemy movement keep her in a great position. A relatively high skill cap gives Anivia a lot of room to out play opponents, and the sustained damage from her ult gives a lot of utility to deal with tanks while maintaining the ability to burst squishies.
Kayle (Down Tier 2 MID) – (Up Tier 2 TOP) – The ability to protect herself or another hyper carry while spewing out continuous damage leaves Kayle in a good spot, but maybe not legendary. In a meta that has become relatively fast paced and focused on snowballing out of control in solo queue, Kayle’s weak early game poses a severe problem. However, her ability to team-fight once she gets off the ground, in addition to how well she scales with items, allows her to punish enemies for being out of position or blowing their CD’s recklessly. She finds strength in top lane. Top lane allows Kayle to farm her item spikes quite well and propel herself into the late game without much opposition. Velkoz (Down Tier 2 MID) – This decision didn’t come easy.
I still think Velkoz is extremely powerful, but their are simply other champions that have more play making ability. Velkoz’s damage, harass, and wave clear are great.

Tentacles falls short when it comes to aggressively making plays around the map. He needs help to set up team fights around his main damage source, his massive ultimate. Free fonts. God forbid there is a point click CC on the other team and Velkoz becomes very limited champion due to how immobile he is. The majority of crazy plays we see from this champion are disengage out plays. While not necessarily bad, there is a bit to be desired. Kennen (UP Tier 1 TOP) – This yordle was always dangerous, but I think the Worlds stage blew up the undervalued asset that he can be. Protobelt + Zhonyas + Sorcs = Dead Back Line.
